RAP: Rotary Apprenticeship Programme

RAP is a mentoring programme focussed on building resilience & employability in Y13

- Led and supervised by classroom teachers within the school timetable

- Weekly team mentoring sessions, by volunteers with industry experience

- Each mentor is matched with 2 or 3 students, with team back-up for mentor absence

- Volunteers are recruited and coordinated by a local community volunteer

The RAP model has been in development at One Tree Hill College since 2022 and is loosely based on the REP partnership model.

We anticipate local adaptations to suit the priorities of each RAP school, while applying clear principles of operation and sound mentoring practice.

Implementation Steps to Adopt the RAP Model

What can the support team do to help?

- We provide and explain the model to all interested parties

- We share the learnings from the RAP pilot programme and similar mentoring programmes

- We provide support, training and ongoing liaison for the RAP Community Coordinator and school 'Driver'

- Linkage to local Rotary Clubs, if requested. Rotary Clubs may be a useful source of volunteers and industry connections
